  1. There are no fairs held in this parish now, but there used to be long ago. They are held in Whitegate instead, because one fair day soldiers came and hunted the people and cattle down to Whitegate and the fairs are held there since. There is a fair held in Scariff every month. It is always a good fair. The part of the town in which the fair is held is called the fair green. The fair in Whitegate is only held every three months. Cattle, sheep, horses, and foals are sold at the fairs.
