  1. Long ago the boy and girl who were to be married would go to some friend's house and stay there about a month before they were married. This was called a run-a-way, and occured usually if the parents objected to the marraige.
    They were always married in the middle of the day. The groom would go to the bride's house about one o'clock, and they would go to the chapel and get married. Afte they were married they would go for a drive, and that night they went to the groom's house and had a big party.
    If the father and mother of the groom were alive it was customary for them to meet the bride at the door with a burning coal on the tongs. This was to give the bride possession.
    Wednesday was considered a very lucky day for getting married. The bride would wear a purple
