    on slates. They had no black-boards or maps or books like what we have nowadays. Some of them learned reading and others did not but they were all good writers. None of them went to school until they were nine or ten years and there were some who never went.
    This old school has fallen since that and there is no sign of it now. The master and all the people who were taught in it during thirty or forty years are all dead.
