  2. The Potato Crop

    There are potatoes grown on the farm. There are about two statue acres of potatoes put in every year. It is not manured before it is turned up. Potatoes are sown in ridges and in drills. The ploughs are used to put in drills and the spades are used to put in the ridges.
    Wooden ploughs were used but none of them are left. The spades are bought in the shop. The ground has to be first ploughed then harrowed, cultivated, harrowed and ploughed again.
