    is called a luck penny. When animals are sold they are marked with paint on the back. When horses are sold the halter is given with horses. The fairs in Clones and Cootehill are monthly ones.
    There are no special fairs for horses, sheep and pigs. In Cavan there are old fairs which are held on the 14th May, 14th August and the 12th November.

  2. In olden times people had three meals a day. These meals were breakfast, dinner and supper.
    There was some work done before the breakfast. Each meal consisted of potatoes and milk, and porridge was eaten when potatoes were scarce.
