Old stories say there dwelt a giant in Ballyheady, by the name of "Conal, Finhal Dol. This man was 8 ft in in height and had only one arm and one eye. This Giant lived in the time of the Tuatha De Danann. He was in a feirce battle one day with Gobhair the Laidir. It is said that Conall put his rival to flight and as he was not able to catch up with him he took up a huge stone about 9 cwts weight and hurled it after his foe.
