  1. Story a Fort
Nearly one hundred years ago two men were ploughing a field beside Killinenaugh fort. As they wheeled the horses they heard noise as if a churning was going on. They went down ploughing the field and returned to the end next the fort again. On the ground was a churn dash or churn staff broken. One of the men repaired it and left it where he found it. They continued ploughing and on returning to the fort end they saw two butter cakes i e ashes with butter spread on them - left for them to eat. One of the men ate his cake and the other refused to taste the other cake. They continued ploughing down the field, and the man who refused to even taste the butter cake lost his horse - he dropped dead beside the other horse.
