    Light-hearted and gay are the boys round the mountain
    Their cheeks like the rose-bud, their beards soft as moss,
    Their hearts sprouting love like a clear sparkling fountain
    But there are some heroes as noble round Cross.
    And fair are the maidens round Edenagully
    Yet none of them all had such charms as she,
    For all the young men from hillside and valley
    Come courting young Nancy from Mount Loughinlea.
