- A fire broke out in Ballyjamesduff one night last Winter.
There was a large shed at the foot of Market St, in which there was a loft, where there was a large quantity of hay, and there were a few cows and pigs in the shed also.
In the middle of the night, a man named James Briody went into the shed to sleep on the hay, he then smoked a cigarette, and while falling asleep, the cigarette dropped on the hay, and set fire to it; before long the shed was a mass of flames.
A large crowd of people were soon on the scene, and succeeded in rescuing the pigs and cattle, but the hay, and shed were burned completely. The man who(continues on next page)- Collector
