  1. A fire broke out in Ballyjamesduff one night last Winter.
    There was a large shed at the foot of Market St, in which there was a loft, where there was a large quantity of hay, and there were a few cows and pigs in the shed also.
    In the middle of the night, a man named James Briody went into the shed to sleep on the hay, he then smoked a cigarette, and while falling asleep, the cigarette dropped on the hay, and set fire to it; before long the shed was a mass of flames.
    A large crowd of people were soon on the scene, and succeeded in rescuing the pigs and cattle, but the hay, and shed were burned completely. The man who
