  1. In Autumn when we are digging the potatoes, we dig two pits, one for small ones, and one for big ones. We cover them with straw or rushes and then we put soil on them.
    Then in Spring-time when my father is ploughing that field again, they are picked out of the pit, and if there are any of them bad we take them away, because if we did not they would make all the rest go bad.
    We bring the good ones home, and put them in an out-house until they are going to be sown in the Springtime.
