    Long ago the people used to make creels and take them to the town on a Fair day.

    Straw was used long ago for bedding for the cattle and for thatching and for making mats which they put on the asse's backs under the "Barritchocks" (?). The people wove sally rods into potato baskets and creels.
    Long ago the people used to make creels and take them to the town on a Fair day. Sometimes they made mats from straw they would have creels and put the mats under the creels and back out turf with asse's. They used to make baskets and beasoms (?) for a penny and twopence.
