Some men are gifted in repairing shoes. Some twenty years past there were more shoe-makers then we have now. At that time boots were so costly the cost of repairs would buy a new pair. Clogs were worn long ago than at the present time the soles were locally by handy men from timber. The clogs are worn in the winter time as they would be too warm in the summer months.
Leather was not made in local districts as it has to be made in tan yards in towns.
