- Farming is the chief industry in Ireland and therefore churning is carried out to a vast extent. We have no churn at home but my cousin who has a farm has one and I often help him when he is churning. It is about three feet high. It is two and a half feet in width at the top and bottom and much narrower near the cents. The top part is called a crib.
It is circular shaped and made up of curved wood called staves and these are bound by iron hoops. He has the churn about six years. It is a dash churn and the various parts of it are lid, the dash, and the joggler.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
