In former times the tailors went around from house to house and stayed for several days making clothes for the household. He sewed the cloth by hand and his gear or implements consisted of needles, thread, thimble, scissors, inch-tape, T. square, "lab - board" and "goose" or iron.
The shoemaker went from house to house in former times too and spent several days mending and making shoes. The leather was made in Swanlinbar - the "Tanyard" Lane is still to be seen there.
The "weavers" is a name still given to a family of the McGoverns who live in Owencam a townland in this parish of Corlough.
Sayings:- 1. "The long thread of the lazy tailor"
    2. "Rest yourself sitting like a tailor standing"
