    Birds are often watched as showing signs of storm etc.
    Sea-gulls flying inland are always a sign of storm.
    Swallows flying low especially in the evenings are a sign of a wet day next day.
    If the curlew or moor-cock are heard calling in the evenings it is regarded as a sign of rain.
    If the crane flies towards the mountain it is a sign of the approach of heavy rain and floods.
    If swans are seen fighting on the lake in the evening it is a sign of rain.
    If the Blackbird and Robin come near the door for food it is a sign of a snow-storm.
    If the ducks quack loudly it is a sign of rain.
