  1. (continued from previous page)
As I lay my body down to sleep
I pray to God my soul to keep.
And if I die before I wake.
I pray to God my soul to take.
    To be said in bed.
Five blessed wounds nailed to a tree,
O merciful Jesus have mercy on me.
To be said five times at night.
    Prayer
There are four corners in my bed
    There are four angels overhead
    Mathew, mark, Luke and John.
God bless the bed that I lie on.
    Prayer
God bless Friday and Good Friday too, the day our Saviour was crusified,
I met Jesus upon the way with fifty thorns planted
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
