  1. Once there lived an old widow and she had a son. He was an "ashy pet". He was always in the ashes. Every year he would get up and shake a stone of ashes off himself. When he was twenty one he told his mother that he would go out and seek his fortune. "Arrah you" says his mother "you old ashy pet you and you stuck in the ashes from you were born, a fairy like you to go to seek your fortune"
