- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)tallow. The mould was then left in a cold place to let the candle harden, it was then taken out. They made bunches of these at a time. They were hung up in roofs of houses drying. These candles were called "Tallow Candles". They had a kind of yellowish colour, like the wax candles we have now. They were better than the candles we have now, but they had a bad smell when they were burning.
- People had to make their own candles at that time. They made them from rushes and tallow.
First the rushes had to be peeled and dried. Then the white pith was dipped in tallow. Tallow is a kind(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
