  1. Soon after the great war a terrible sickness spread over the whole of Ireland and it was very severe in Shinrone.
    It was so bad that the Doctor could not attend everyone.
    When a person would die, they could hardly get men enough to dig the grave or to attend the funeral.
    It was so bad that when the people would die there bodies would turn black. It is said that it was the gas that came over in the air after the great war.
