His wife used to teach the girls in the room how to sew and knit stockings and cut out shirts and make them. Ann was a great hand at cutting out garments and making them. She used to measure by finger lengths and nails as that is how she was taught. Her people were very rich at one time and they owned all the land round. Ann died in 1930 and she was about ninety years old.
