  1. On the far side of the Shannon about two miles from Clonmacnois stands the Moat of Clonburn. In olden times it is said that the Long Station was commenced there and it came down through Clorhane and Creevagh to Clonmacnois. There is an old stone there which it is said that St Ciaran threw from Clonmacnois. An old harp was also found there a long time ago by a man digging. There is an old road which runs by the quarries at Cloniff through the bog to Shannon-bridge
