Weather Signs
In every district it is necessary for the farmers to be able to foretell the weather. In foretelling the weather, the birds, the clouds and the smoke from the chimney are taken into consideration. When the clouds are low and black it is going to rain. If the birds fly high the weather will be fine. If they fly low, near cover, the weather will be wet. If the smoke from the chimney goes up straight the weather will be mild. If it blows down the chimney there will be a storm. If a cat turns her back to the fire the weather will be cold.
