    Long ago on St Martin's Day the people in my district used to kill foul for the dinner, such as a goose or three chickens. They made crosses on the backs of the doors with the blood of the fowl.
    On New Year's eve the people open the back door to let out the old year and they open the front door to let in the new year. They people eat a big feast on that night so that they would not be hungry for all the year round. The people watch the way the wind blows on that night.
