  1. Thomas Coady told me how the football matches were played in former times. He lives in Grange and he is 84 years of age. He said that football was mostly played, and the chief game in the district.
    It was played differently from what is now. Long ago they did not play on marked out fields, neither were the opposing sides limited to a number of players like now.
    The matches were frequently played, between the entire population of neighbouring or rival villages, sometimes fifty strong on each side.
    The "goals" would be trees standing a little apart or the walls of a certain house. There were no rules or laws to abide by. The main thing was to get the ball to the opposing
