The Wreck of the 'San Salvador'
This happened about 106 years ago. The ship was making it's way along the Wexford coast, in a very heavy storm, when it was blown on to the Blackwater bank.
It struck the bank at Monney Point which is directly opposite to Morriscastle strand.
The storm seems to have been terrific and both the sea and the wind were raging against the ship.
Paddy Carbury with a crew of eight men set out in a small boat to try and rescue the crew of the San Salvador. He told his men on starting out that he would kill any of them that did not obey his orders.
