    In this district of Granard, Co. Longford about sixty years ago there were men going about, known by the name of "pedlars". They travelled on foot from the various large towns to distant country places.
    They carried large packs on their backs bound up in oil or water-proof wrappings fastened by means of straps and buckles. They sold suit lengths, ladies blouses, remnants
