    An Old Place Name

    There is an old house called by the name of "Paddy's Barn" on the roadside in the townland of Cartron, in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford. It is on the main road, which leads to Mostrim, which is six miles from the town of Granard.
    It got its name "Paddy's Barn", because it had been erected there over a hundred years ago by an English garrison of soldiers.
