    About fifty years ago there lived a man in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford. One night he was coming home in a trap, and he had a priest with him.
    They were driving by Lough Gowna in the parish of Purth, Co. Longford and about four miles from this town of Granard. Immediately the horse stood still and no matter how they tried or what they did he would not move nor
