  1. The name of the townland in which I live is Aughafin it is in the parish of Drumraney and in the barrony of Killkenny
    West.
There are only three families in Aughafin now they are,Christopher Bannon’s,
Dorans and Peter Bannons. There are eleven people in it. Christopher Bannon’s
and Doran’s houses are thatched and low
with small windows and P.Bannons is slated.
It is not known how the townland got its name. The old people are Christopher Bannon and Mrs Doran. No one in the townland knows Irish.
There are two houses now in ruins they are Dooner’s and Murphys and thirteen disappeared altogher there were two families of Feenan’s and two of Connaughtons and nine of Joyce’s. All the Feenan’s,Connaughtons and Joyce’s emigrated to America. The land in Aughafin is hilly but good.
