    they gave them. The ruin is surrounded by four acres of the best land in the area. The monks were excellent husbandmen and intensively cultivated the lands occupied by them.
    In Mr Mooneys estate is an old fort. Many old spear-heads and axes, were found in it by Mr Mooney. He had them sent to the Museum. Some years ago he dug in the fort and found a subterranean passage roofed with large flag-stones, which were transported, he discovered, by human labour, from the neighbouring district of Loughill.
