1In my young days four bearers of the same name (surname) as the deceased used to carry the corpse out of the house and into the churchyard- in my cases the four were available.

3. When a person died if there was a clock in the room it was stopped.
4. Very rough games used to be carried on at wakes. One was called Rotha-Rotha. The young men some dozen sat closely on the floor in a circle with their knees somewhat raised. One of the players stood in the center of the circle. A leather belt with an iron buckle was passed rapidly under their knees from palyer to player. The "fool" in the center would bend and make an effort to find the belt. If he failed to find it and he ofter did, he received a(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
