On the stroke of twelve the music stopped, and the guests disappeared and the carter was left along, not in a ballroom, but on the same green (path) mound of earth so familiar to him on his journies to Rochfort Bridge to Clara mill, but to his great surprise no longer a hunch back but a perfect figure of man.
