    Each time the light appeared the man came to a standstill but when it disappeared for the third time he made a bound forward and ran at his best and was soon out of sight.
    The young man in the field was laughing heartily and enjoying the other's fright, when all at once, as he said himself, his hair began to rise, and he too started to run feeling a strange fear. He ran for the house, but tripping on his big overcoat going uphill he fell on his hand and knees.
    When he got up he was all right again, but he could never explain why he felt so frightened.
