    until the field was crossed and a plantation hid any further view.
    The straw that was lefted fell in pieces here and there on the road and in the next field.
    Some years ago a violent wind broke a large branch from a big ash tree about one hundred yards from this house. The branch was carried by the wind along the road across the hedge and was only stopped by striking a stable door.
    Strange to say there was no wind except in the line from the tree to the stable, and the day was quite calm.
