- In my townland when two people are getting married one gives the house to the other as a dowry and more times they give cattle or money but it is mostly the house they give and it is often they fall out and will not get married because one will not give the house to the other and when they are married they have the breakfast in the house and they have a great feast and they all get drunk they drink whiskey and porter and every class of wine and the women are just as bad as the men when they get drunk they fight and leap about and the feast lasts for a day and a night and they would sleep for a week or more. The people say it is unlucky to get married in the month of August because it(continues on next page)
