    When the Wicklow Mts. can be seen from Glenidan, it is a sign of rain
    Sheep in the valleys
    A red sky in the direction of Dublin in the morning
    The cat sitting with its back to the fire denotes storm
    The cat putting his paw over his ear when washing himself
    A good crop of blackberries and haws is a sign of a bad
    winter
    Blue blazes in the fire
    A Rainbow in the morning
    The shrieking of curlews
    Guinea hens crying and flying to treetops
    Hens picking themselves and crouching under trees
    Streaks out of sun at sunset
    Stars moving in the sky
    Lightning without thunder
    Wind in the west
    Smoke curling down to the ground
    Swallows flying low
    Mist over Ben of Fore in the morning
    Robins flocking to our door betoken a coming storm
    Goats lingering about farm yard betoken a coming storm
    Blue mist on horizon is a sign of thunder
    Wild geese flying northwards is a sign of severe weather
