  1. There was a certain man going to the fair in Castlepollard and he went across the fields for a short-cut and he sent his men round the road with his cattle. He had to pass through a fort. There was great feasting and the fairies brought him in and have him some refreshments and it was said that if he did take it he would be in their power. While he was there a little red woman came up and blew her breath into his eye and it was very painful. In going into the fair he saw the little woman walking through the fair. He went to her and told her about his eye, she put her hand on his eye and she cured him.
