Friday is the best day to mow. The oats should be sowed before the 1st April. If sown after the day it is called "cuckoo oats".
It is supposed to be unlucky to postpone the date of a marriage. For onions it is best to "Sow the Shortest day and pull the longest day".
It is unlucky to bathe in the lake before the whit days. Primroses on mayflowers should be spread around the doors on May morning to keep the fairies away. It is very unlucky to make hay no matter how enticing or how urgent the case is on 15th August.
