  1. (continued from previous page)
Stretched on the grass without life or clothes,
Stretches on the grass in his last repose,
She took his hand and she gazed awhile,
Oh dearest darling where is the smile,
Where are the smiles that would control,
The greatest portion of my heart and soul,
Oh Jimmy, Jimmy will you awake,
Or to your mother why don't you speak,
It is your mother that is calling thee
Arise up Jimmy and come home with me.
It would be no wonder if the earth to quake,
The sky to thunder and mountains shake.
A child I reared from his infancy
And expecting him to be a clergyman in a year or two,
Till cruel death did prevail my view,
Young Jimmy Dolan is now no more,
The pride of Whitewood and the country o'er.
