    Local Cures.
    In the time before Catholic Emancipation when the penal laws were in force no young man could be educated to be a doctor. For that reason, the people had to find their own remedies for their ailments. Here are some of their cures:-
    1. The mumps could be cured by getting up for three mornings and going down to the big sty before getting
