There was a man called Michael cooney who won great fame on the field of activity in the tenth century. He was a verys trong tall man. He was six foot eleven inches in height. He lived in a small house in the suburbs of Kildalkey. A man the name of Carrol from Ballybrittas was a champion thrower. He won the championship of Ireland in the fourteenth century. It is extraordinary to know that he was the only man at that time to lift a hundred weight over his head in his right hand. There was a great challenge between two men, their names were John Reilly and James Davin. They challenged each other to run a hundred yards and jump the Stoneyford river but they were evens and they had to try it again and James Davin won it.
