  2. Long ago about a mile from Drogheda there stood an old house. The owner lived in Dublin and he paid an aged woman to live in the house and look after it for him. Every evening the neighbours around used sit around the fire and tell stories. I forgot to mention that this house was haunted.
    One night when everybody had left for their own homes about ten o' clock the old woman went up to bed. As she was kneeling saying her prayers she heard heavy footsteps coming up the stairs. She got
