  1. An old game played by the children
Children sit in a ring and put the tops of their fingers on the ground.
One is in charge of the game and says very quickly.
    The little Smiths
    The Big Smiths
    The Smiths in the ditch
The Smiths beside them the "raise them all up" and "leave them all down"
The children must do the opposite to what the leader calls. When she says raise they must keep their fingers down. When she says leave them down they must raise them.
Anyone who can't do this falls out They keep on till one is left. She wins.
