  1. Cattle that go to a drinking place where they get a ciaróg by drinking too quickly swell up immediately. As soon as the people notice the swelling the quickest runner goes to a house where anyone by the of Cassidy lives and takes part of Cassidy's clothes, coat, shawl, or waistcoat & throws it across the cow's kidneys, at the same time shaking holy water on the cow saying In the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Ghost.
    As soon as this is done it is believed that the ciaróg inside the cow will die and the swelling will go down and she will recover immediately.
