- Around my father's farm there are a lot of fields with old Irish names. These names were put on long ago by old Irish people. There is a field not far from my house and it is called "Páirc na Píosaí". This field got its name because there are three parts in it each part belongs to a different person. There is another field called "Cnuic Mór". This field got its name because there is a very large hill in the centre of the field. There is another field called "The Carraigeacha". This field got its name because there are a lot of large rocks and stones in it. "Cnoc na Caillighe". This field got its name because long ago there was a woman living there. Then there were a lot of townlands as well as that which have Irish names.Nancy Ryan
