Saint Ruadhan of Lorrha County Tipperary used frequently visit the moat of Knockgraffon. A story is told of how this Saint dealt with a druid who had demanded the eyes of the chieftain of Knockgraffon whose name was Eochy. When the chieftain had been deprived of his eyes by the druid the Saint prayed and immediately the druid's eyes were transferred to the chieftain instead of his own eyes. This chieftain was afterwards called Súil Lovan which means Lovans eyes.
