- The people began to wear boots in former times when they were fully grown. There was one man who lived in this district a while ago that never wore a shoe or a boot of any kind. He always went bare-foot. His name was Paddy Carey. The children at present go barefooted for the whole Summer and when Summer is over the boots are put on.
The water used for washing the feet should be thrown out and not left inside. Boots and clogs are not made but both are worn locally. Leather was not made in this district at any time. Foot coverings of hides were never worn in this locality. There are no sayings or proverbs connected with the above.Got from Mrs Quigley 40.
