  1. There was once a man who was very fond of gambling. Nearly every night there used to be a gamble in his house.
One Saturday night there was a great gamble there and the house was crowded. When the play was over some of the boys went home but more stayed there playing on. They stayed playing all through Saturday night and played all on Sunday and none of them went to mass.
There were just going to play on Sunday night when the cock flew down on the able and crew three times. They were all frightened and did not know what to do. After a while they all went home and never played a card again. There was never a card played in that house after that and now there is not a sign of the house there. The old people say that the devil was in the place.
