  1. I am living in the townland of Kilcoolen in the Parish of Ballybricken. This is what my mother told me about it. The name Kilcoolen means a little Church. There is a field in Mr Barry's farm called the Drooneen, and it is said that if people passed there after dark they are frequently led astray, not by Jack-of-the-Lantorn, but by some magic spell attributed to the faireen who resent the presence of mortals near the fairy rath close by.
    The people say that one night a woman passed there after dark and was led astray and her shawl was pulled off her
