  1. The old people are well versed in the weather lore and they know when it will be wet or fine.
    They foretell rain by the following signs:In-doors, the walls and the floor weeping, or the crickets and beetles crawling about the floor, or the chimney smoking.
    Out of doors by the dog eating grass, the curlews calling, or a halo around the moon, or the air very oppressive.
    Local signs, a cap on Keeper Hill, or very dark around Croker's.
    Fine weather, signs are: the sun setting in red clouds.
